Description
The University of Saskatchewan is committed to creating a place of work and learning that is as free as possible from recognized hazards. Towards this end, faculty, staff, and students must receive the appropriate training in occupational health and safety so that they understand the hazards in the workplace that impact them, how to recognize those hazards, and how to protect themselves.
Objectives:
All individuals working with hazardous materials must receive training on the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) to ensure they know:
- how to recognize hazardous materials;
- how to identify the hazards associated with these materials; and
- how to safely use, handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials.
This course is intended to provide you with:
- a basic understanding of WHMIS;
- how to recognize classes of hazardous materials;
- available resource in WHMIS; and
- general measures to protect workers.
