Description
The online biowaste course is designed as a training tool for those individuals who are disposing of biological materials, or carcasses, that are considered biohazardous, through the Waste Management Facility.
The biohazardous waste training is valid for 3 years. To recertify your biohazardous waste training, the online course needs to be retaken.
Objectives:
This course provides training on how to properly package and handle the following biohazardous waste:
- Non-anatomical (human and/or animal) waste;
- Microbiological laboratory waste (including glass waste and pipette tips);
- SHARPs waste;
- Animal husbandry waste;
- Anatomical waste (human and/or animal);
- Cytotoxic waste;
- Pharmaceutical waste; and
- Special precaution waste (i.e. imported soil, transgenic plants or animals, prion materials, etc.).
