Description
Participants will be introduced to the principles of surgical skills including proper instrumentation, suturing, aseptic technique, surgeon and animal subject preparation. Before attending the two-day workshop, participants must review the surgical workshop pre-requisite material. These materials will be available through Canvas upon registration for the course. The workshop takes place over two days and will start with a short quiz and discussion about surgical procedures. Participants will then have a chance to practice suturing, aseptic technique, and surgical preparation. *Students must sign up for both Part I and Part II of the in-person workshop to complete the course*
Objectives:
This session will introduce participants to the use of aquatic species in research. In this course, participants will learn:
- About surgical instrumentation.
- About aseptic technique and surgical preparation.
Prerequisites:
The following courses MUST be completed prior to attending UACC Practical Skills: Surgical Skills

- UACC Practical Skills: Rodent Anaesthesia
